THE MOVING FIELD GUIDEPlan with clarity. Move with a record.
HOW WE WORK

Guidance should show its work.

MoverCenter is an independent editorial resource for U.S. households. We aim to make moving decisions clearer, with practical steps and source-backed limits.

EDITORIAL STANDARD

Clear advice. Honest boundaries.

Our guides are written for planning and documentation, not to replace a mover's contract, a state agency, a lawyer, or a licensed specialist. A reader should be able to distinguish a practical suggestion from a requirement imposed by law or a provider agreement.

01

Research primary sources

When a guide discusses federal moving rules, mail forwarding, or consumer reporting, we link to the responsible public agency. We check the scope and date of a rule before presenting it. We avoid treating interstate household-goods regulations as universal in-state rules.

02

Make useful distinctions

A booked full-service mover, rental truck, labor-only crew, and self-managed move involve different responsibilities. We say which situation a step applies to. A sample checklist is a planning aid, not evidence that a particular company offers a service.

03

Do not invent experience

We do not fabricate customer reviews, business credentials, statistics, or firsthand tests. The site does not claim to perform moves. Examples illustrate how a household might organize work and should not be mistaken for an actual customer's account.

04

Correct and review

Rules, agency pages, and provider practices can change. We review factual claims and update a guide when a reliable correction is identified. If a linked public source has moved or a statement has become outdated, the relevant guide should be revised with its context intact.

Take the next action from the right source.

Use these guides to frame questions, gather documents, and plan follow-up. For a claim, deadline, license, or account change, verify the current details with the carrier, regulator, or service provider responsible for your specific move.
